PRAB’s CEO to Step Down on December 20, 2024 After over a Decade of Service

PRAB’s Chief Executive Officer to step down on Friday, December 20, 2024 after over a decade of service to PRAB and the Central Jersey community

PRAB (Puerto Rican Action Board), a comprehensive human services organization incorporated in 1971 with headquarters in East Brunswick, Middlesex County, New Jersey, announced that, after a decade of outstanding service, our CEO, José Carlos Montes, will be stepping down from his role on Friday, December 20, 2024. Already, PRAB’s Board of Trustees formed a CEO Search Committee consisting of members of our Board of Trustees and staff executive management team. It will oversee the transition to new leadership and ensuring it is smooth and well-managed, thus ensuring that we continue our work with the same level of excellence that has defined PRAB for well over 50 years.

“Over the past 10 years, José has been a driving force behind our growth and success, guiding us through numerous challenges and milestones with unwavering dedication and vision,” said PRAB’s Board Chair, Kenny Obeso. “We are incredibly grateful for José’s contributions and leadership during this time.”

Throughout the transition, PRAB’s program participants, partners, and donors should expect business as usual, as it continues to provide high-quality service and stay connected to the community. In addition, the CEO Search Committee will provide periodic updates concerning its progress through its website and social media outlets.

“Leading PRAB has been one of the greatest joys in my life,” said PRAB CEO José Carlos Montes. “For over 10 years, I was fortunate to have guided this storied institution through numerous milestones and challenges. Of course, none of this would have been possible without our board, staff, and partners, who helped us serve nearly 35,000 Central New Jersey residents each year. I thank them for being our trusted traveling companions. They will always be a reminder that our society still has people who care for others in our midst.”

PRAB invites all to join us on Friday, October 25 at our Staying Alive Dance Fundraiser at the Pines Manor in Edison, NJ to celebrate José’s time at PRAB and wishing him all the best in his future endeavors. Follow the PRAB 2024 Fundraiser Link to be an event sponsor and/or purchase a visual ad, tables (of 10), or individual tickets. It will go a long way toward helping PRAB thrive beyond José’s tenure.
