The Documentary Premiere kicks off Juntos Together’s fundraising efforts to support our Puerto Rico Rebuilding Project #2, scheduled for spring 2019. 1st Responder leaders on the island will help identify the homes of the 1st Responders and residents for the upcoming project. Current donors include the State Theatre New Jersey, the Middlesex County Board of Chosen Freeholders, Middlesex County Office of Arts and History, and RWJF President’s Grant Fund at the Princeton Area Community Foundation.
The documentary itself tells the story of JT’s efforts in April 2018 to rebuild the walls and roofs of six (6) homes of first responders (Fire Fighters, Police and Paramedics) and other local families in need, who sustained massive damage to their homes during Hurricanes Irma & Maria in September 2017. A team of volunteers from Greater New Brunswick, other parts of the US, and Puerto Rico, used their personal time and funds to participate in the rebuilding effort.
Said Rebuilding Project Director Captain William Borke III of the New Brunswick Fire Department during the rebuilding effort: “We were [just] visited by the mayor and the Director of Emergency Services here in Florida (PR), and they were very happy. They were speechless basically, and thanking us for being part of the relief efforts for Hurricane Maria, and helping [them] to come back and rebuild in the island, and caring and loving our people. And that’s what this is all about.”
Juntos Together funded the 2018 Puerto Rico Rebuilding Project, and other sustainability efforts in Puerto Rico, with every donation received. All donations are accepted in person or online at: https://prab.org/donate/ (select a Juntos Together option in the “Cause” dropdown).
