Effective October 1, 2024, you must apply ONLINE to receive Home Energy Assistance

• Find out if you are eligible for the program
  • Review the Energy Assistance Program Fact Sheet and Income Guidelines
• Fill out the LIHEAP Application (between October 1 and June 30) OR the USF Application (anytime throughout the year) AND
  • Download, print and complete the Home Energy/USF/Weatherization Program Application [pdf  389kB]
• Upload the Required Documents
  • For New Applications
    • Application
    • Copies of Social Security cards for everyone in the household
    • Current Utility bills ALL PAGES
    • Current Lease agreement or property tax/mortgage statement
    • Rental Assistance (if applicable)
    • Current Consecutive Income for everyone 18 yrs old and older
  • For Recertifications
    • Recertification Form: English Español
    • Current Utility bills ALL PAGES
    • Rental Assistance (if applicable)
    • Current Consecutive Income for everyone 18 yrs old and older
• Submit a completed application to PRAB, your Local Community Action Agency
  • Via US Mail: 754 Route 18, Suite 202, East Brunswick, NJ 08816
  • In person: Drop off either at our Perth Amboy OR East Brunswick office
  • At an Outreach Event or Intake Session: Provide documentation directly to our Program Staff Member
• Due to reductions in Federal funding, the following will be the benefit amounts
  • Cooling assistance: Up to $300 to eligible residents with medical documentation
  • Heating emergency assistance: Up to $800
  • Emergency assistance for non-heating electric accounts: Up to $300
